Deep in the heart of prohibition America, tensions are brewing…

After his wife launches a plot to overthrow his former boss, the unwitting bartender of a New York speakeasy finds himself caught in the midst of a vicious power struggle that grips the city's criminal underworld.

Set against the stark backdrop of 1920's prohibition and the Great Depression, The Dark Slate Theatre Company invites you to the Solitary West speakeasy for a night of loss, ambition, and betrayal in their immersive debut production: The Unspoken.

    All seating is unreserved.

    The production has a running time of approximately 2 hours 30 minutes, with an additional 20 minute interval.

    The bar will be accessible before the show.

  • The production incorporates elements of immersive theatre to construct the world of 1920s New York.

    The venue’s traditional seating will be removed in favour of a cabaret-style layout.

    Members of the performing company will be seated throughout the audience at various points during the show. We kindly ask that you do not attempt to distract our actors from the performance. Members of the performing company may engage with or sit alongside the audience before the show starts.

    If you have any questions or concerns regarding these immersive elements, please let one of the stewards know upon arrival.

    There is no dress code for the production.

    Audience members will not be expected to get up or move around during the performance.

  • Please be aware that this production contains loud noises, flashing lights, high & low frequency sound, and the use of theatrical haze.

    Finding its inspiration in Shakespearean tragedy, The Unspoken touches on dark themes that some may find upsetting.

    These include the presence of violence, death, pregnancy, blood, mental illness, homophobia (& the use of a homophobic slur) and sexism.

    This production contains mentions of sexual assault, physical abuse, terminal illness, family tragedy, torture, drugs, and war.
